COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M soccer team secured its 14th straight appearance in the NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship and hosts the first and second round games of the tournament on Friday, Nov. 14 and Sunday, Nov. 16 at the Aggie Soccer Stadium.

The Aggies (15-4-1) captured an at-large bid and face Texas State (13-3-4) Friday at 7 p.m. while LSU (14-3-2) plays Washington (14-5-1) at 4 p.m. A&M is 5-0 against the tournament field having never faced LSU.

“It’s a really good regional and a tough road for us but we’re happy that the road is starting right here at our place,” said head coach G Guerrieri. “We have a talented team and have gained a lot of experience in some really competitive games at tough venues. Hopefully that will help to make us even more confident as we step into the match on Friday night.”

Six teams from the Big 12 made the bracket including A&M as a No. 3 seed, Colorado, Oklahoma State and Missouri as No. 4 seeds, Kansas and Texas.

At the College Station Regional, Texas State received an automatic bid after defeating McNeese State in the Southland Conference Tournament. Washington earned an at-large bid and finished the regular season on a six-game winning streak and third in the Pacific-10 Conference. LSU, another at-large bid, was the second seed at the Southeastern Conference Tournament and fell to Tennessee in the semifinals.

The winners of the two games on Friday meet in the second round on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

The NCAA Tournament continues with third round action Nov. 21, 22 or 23 and quarterfinal play on Nov. 28, 29 or 30. The College Cup is set for Dec. 5 and 7 at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina.
