Brandt, Cougarettes End Centerville's Run At State

SAN MARCOS- In a match sure to keep both towns talking for months, Wallis Brazos knocked off Centerville in the semifinals of the Class 2A state volleyball tournament in San Marcos.

The Cougarettes claimed the five-set thriller over the Lady Tigers, 25-21, 29-27, 22-25, 19-25, and 21-19.

Leanne Jones led the 'Ville's attack with 22 kills.

Centerville's Alex Lacey recorded a game-high 36 assists.

But, the Cougarettes' Jennifer Brandt delivered with the season on the line.

Brandt, who tallied 35 kills in two regional tournament games last weekend, led all attackers Thursday with 25 kills, including a spike at match point.

Brandt also notched 22 digs.

Centerville ends its season at 45-&-2.

Brazos Consolidated moves on to play Bushland for the 2A crown Saturday at 11 a.m.

The Cougarettes are 34-&-10.
