COLLEGE STATION -- The Burton Panthers had to wait an extra week to play their first playoff game since 1995, but the wait was worth it as Burton beat Bosqueville 41-27 at Tigerland Stadium.

Bosqueville pulled within 2 points in the second quarter on a 4th and goal pass from the Blaze Blackburn to Nathan Jorgenson from 5 yards out to make it 14-12.

But Burton answered, Daniel Patterson ripped off a 49 yard touchdown run as the Panthers took a 21-19 lead at the half.

It was all Burton in the second half, they outscore Bosqueville 20-8, and go onto post a 41-27 win.

For all the nay sayers who wanted to close our little school down. This is what a small community is all about, one big family. For the smallest division 1A in our District the stands at Tiger Stadium were packed last night. This little school is making history and as a community in much what appears to be gloomy times ahead we are making a spark that hopefully will turn into a full fledged BonFire by the time this is all over. After having our share of defeats over the past 4 years and 4 different head coaches, it is amazing how well everything has gelled together. This is a special group of young men that continue to play their hearts out on the football field at every game. Keep it up guys, the following will continue to grow at each hurdle as you continue to finish the mission...thanks to all the Somerville and Brenham fans we came to support and others from around....and as the term has been coined by some "Man I like to Win!" "Shooooooooooo".
