NAVASOTA -- The Navasota Lady Rattler basketball team dropped a 49-48 decision to the Stafford Spartans during the opening day of the 8th Annual Rattler Shoot-Out Classic.

The Lady Rattlers were down 49-48 with .8 of a second to play when Megan Calhoun missed a 20 footer jumper that caught the back of the rim.

The loss was the first that Navasota has suffered since December 2004. The loss snapped a 68 game home court winning streak.

Raven Palmer led Navasota with 17 points, while Stafford's Candria Jones led all scorers with 18 points.

Navasota will play in their second game of the tournament this evening at 5:30 p.m. when they take on Magnolia West.
