UNDATED (AP) - It's Florida No. 1 and Oklahoma ranked second in
the new Associated Press college football poll.
Texas is No. 3 behind the two teams expected to be matched later
in the day in the BCS championship game Jan. 8 in Miami.
Florida jumps to the top of the rankings after Saturday's win
over previously unbeaten and then-No. 1 Alabama in the SEC
The Gators took 50 of 65 first-place votes from the media panel,
while Oklahoma got nine votes after its 62-21 blitzing of Missouri
in last night's Big 12 title game.
Texas received six first-place ballots.
Florida becomes the sixth team to be No. 1 this season. The last
season in which there were six No. 1 teams was 1984.
Alabama dropped to fourth after its loss to Florida. Southern
California is fifth. Penn State is No. 6 followed by undefeated
Utah, Texas Tech, 12-and-0 Boise State and Ohio State.
The next and final AP Top 25 will be released hours after the
BCS championship game.
