High Jump Record Highlights Day One At NCAA Indoor Track And Field Championships

COLLEGE STATION -- Texas high jumper Destinee Hooker broke the meet record in the NCAA Indoor Championships, clearing 6 feet, 6 inches Friday at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium.

Another highlight of the evening took place in the men's 200 meter dash. Baylor's Trey Harts hit the finish line in 20.63 seconds, which was the fastest time record indoors this season.

In the women's 200 meter dash, A&M's Porscha Lucas came in 2nd place with a time of 22.83. Miami's Murielle Ahoure won the event with a time of 22.80.

A&M's Gabby Mayo (23.23) came in 5th, while Aggie Allison George was 8th (23.25).

Heading into the final day of competition on Saturday the Texas A&M women are tied for third place with 13 points with Penn State. BYU is in the lead with 18 points.

On the men's side the Aggies are tied for 19th with 3 other teams, all with 5 points. Oregon is in the lead with 23 points.

The meet resumes Saturday morning at noon.
