LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) - Shaver Hansen had three home runs and
Baylor tied a school record with eight homers as the Bears beat
Kansas 21-9 on Sunday.
The 21 runs were the most ever scored by Baylor (20-8, 7-5 Big
12) in a conference road game. For the Jayhawks (18-12, 4-5) the
lost was just the second in 17 home games this season.
Baylor went up 2-0 in the first on home runs by Hansen and
Dustin Dickerson. Kansas tied it in the bottom of the inning on a
pair of unearned runs.
But the Bears led the rest of the way, getting four runs on two
hits off Jayhawk reliever Travis Blankenship (3-1), who took the
Willie Kempf (3-1) started for Baylor and earned the win,
allowing nine runs on 11 hits over 5 1-3 innings.
Kansas got three hits each from Tony Thompson and Casey Lytle,
including Thompson's eightth home run of the season.
