Crane Shoots 65 For A 1-Shot Lead At Players

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL -- Ben Crane rolled in a 30-foot birdie putt on the first hole and went on to a 7-under 65 for the lead after the first round of The Players Championship. Crane made four birdie putts longer than 20 feet during the round.

He has a one-shot lead over John Mallinger, Alex Cejka and Richard S. Johnson of Sweden, with a large group at 67 that includes Retief Goosen and Camilo Villegas.

Tiger Woods couldn't make a putt outside 4 feet and shot 71.
Phil Mickelson ran off three straight birdies early in his round
but faltered and finished with a 73.
