COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M head softball coach Jo Evans announced the addition of junior pitcher and outfielder Lindsey Sisk to the 2009-10 roster on Thursday. Sisk transfers to A&M after playing two years at the University of Arizona.

“We’re thrilled to have Lindsey join our program,” said Evans. “What a great addition for us. She’s going to be a difference-maker the day she steps on the field. She brings a presence on the field and her experience and tremendous drive will only enrich our program.”

A member of the 2006-07 gold medal-winning U.S. Junior National Team, Sisk boasts a 23-8 career collegiate record with 155 strikeouts and a 2.86 ERA. As a freshman, the Murrieta, Calif., native posted a 10-game winning streak and finished the season with a team-best 1.62 ERA. She most recently struck out a career-high 14 batters in the deciding game three of the Super Regional at Stanford to give Arizona its berth to the 2009 Women’s College World Series. When the Aggies took a three-game series from the Wildcats earlier in the season, Sisk was in the circle for Arizona’s only win.

“The fans were really into the games and were pretty wild and funny, and it will be nice to be on the other side of things,” Sisk said. “Texas A&M is a great school with a great softball program, great coaches and great history and I know it will be a good fit.”

Sisk chose Texas A&M over Florida, Northwestern and Baylor and joins returning pitchers junior Rhi Kliesing, sophomore Rebecca Arbino, and signee and Gatorade Indiana Player of the Year Mel Dumezich in the circle for the 2009-10 season.

“Three of our four pitchers hit (Sisk, Dumezich and Kliesing) and will have a chance to be in our everyday lineup,” said Evans. “We have a history of pitchers who are athletic, can play the field and hit, and they have paved the way for Lindsey to come here and be successful.”

Sisk is a 2007 graduate of Murrieta Valley High School in Murrieta, Calif., where she was a four-year honor student. She was named to the all-league first team three times and was twice selected as the Southwester League MVP. Her team won the Southern Section title in 2006 after finishing as the runner up in 2004 and 2005. Sisk was also a member of the 18U Gold Cruisers from 2005-07. The Cruisers placed first at the 2006 Champions Cup and finished third at the ASA Nationals.

Sisk is the daughter of Dennis and Raleen Sisk and has two siblings, Matthew (28) and Denise (26). She plans on majoring in kinesiology.

why in the world would a player of her apparent successful background leave a storied program? either she is jumping ship because arizona lost a ton of its talent, or there were discipline issues of some sort. its hard to believe arizona isnt reloading. so what's the real deal? atm may have had some success but isnt such the power to pull players from a perenial softball college world series powerhouse like arizona. there are a number of schools that would provide a better winning opportunity on a consistent basis than atm. so again, why atm? whats the real deal? is it just another bull looking for new pastures to graze? bet so, because arizona players tend to be very athletic, but also feminine. something atm players are not, and you know what that means.
