BRYAN -- It has been an Olympic sport on the men's side since 1972, it was picked up on the women's side in 1976, yet team handball isn't a very well known sport.

That's why the USA Handball Association is hosting youth tournaments at various sites across the country this summer and this week the Brazos Valley Boys and Girls Club is a host site.

Today the boys wrapped up its round robin tournament with Huntsville winning the title after an undefeated run through the tournament.

This morning there was a crosstown showdown as the Lincoln Center Club, located in College Station, battled the Brazos Valley Boys and Girls Club, which is located in Bryan.

Trey Flowers threw a rocket that scraped the goal post to tie the game at 6.

But Joe Graves used his cannon to power Bryan to the 15-12 win.

The girls will decide their team title on Thursday.

The best way to describe team handball is water polo played on a basketball court.

Teams consist of 4 offensive players and a goalie.

If you are interested in learning more about team handball you can contact Patric Coggin who lives here in College Station and is the Southwest Regional Director for USA Team Handball. His email address is coggin@usateamhandball.org.
