BENCHLEY -- Most High School football teams across Texas hit the practice field for the first today as they get ready for the season opener later on this month. Teams that opted for spring practice, will have to wait until next Monday to kick off their fall camps.
At St. Joseph Catholic School in Bryan, the Eagles have a new head coach. Blake Evans is taking over the Eagles after serving as the quality control coach in charge of defense at Rice University last season.
Evans replaces Randy Hollas who left the Eagles after two seasons to become the Head Football Coach at Woodlands Christian.
Evans says it was exciting this morning to step on the field as a head coach. "The kids are great and we all had a good attitude and even got practice going early today," ended Evans.
The Eagles open the Evans Era on August 28th in Iola when they take on Bulldogs at 7:30.
