AUSTIN -- Canyon took a while to crank up its usual championship clinic. Once it did, there was nothing Crockett could do to shut it down.
Stephani Rhoten scored 13 points and Canyon won its fourth Class
3-A state championship in five years and 13th title overall in 21
state tournament appearances with a 53-to-38 victory today.
Canyon (34-to-2) did not lose to a 3A opponent this season.
Courtney Taylor scored 26 to lead Crockett (31-to-7) in its
first state tournament.
