AUSTIN -- Catcher Casey Everitt brought in a pair of runs, one with a single in the fourth inning and the game-winner with a double in the sixth inning, to give Sam Houston State a 3-2 victory over Saint John's to wrap up action in the Texas Softball Classic at McComb Field Sunday.
The Bearkats won two of their five games in the event to up their 2007 record to 7-9. Both Sam Houston's wins came over Saint John's. The Kats lost a pair of one-run extra inning games to Drake and fell to No. 10 Texas 5-1.
Brandi Crnkovic (2-4) got the pitching victory Sunday, giving up four hits in six innings and striking out five batters. Morgan Mikulin finished the final inning to pick up her second save of the season, striking out two of the three batters she faced.
Designated hitter Mandy Collier's RBI double provided the Bearkats' other run, coming in the second inning.
