Aggie Baseball Set For Huge Series Against Florida

COLLEGE STATION -- The No. 9 Texas A&M baseball team will host the Florida Gators in a three-game series this weekend at Olsen Field. Friday’s game is set for 6:30 p.m., Saturday’s game will be played 2 p.m., and Sunday’s game will be played at noon.

A&M lost for the first time in almost a month, dropping a 6-5 decision to No. 7 Oregon State Monday. The loss snapped a 14-game winning streak. Despite the loss, A&M went 3-1 on the weekend to capture the Domino’s Pizza Aggie Baseball Classic Championship. The Aggies improved their overall record to 15-2.

Florida lost to Jacksonville, 6-5, on Tuesday, after dominating George Washington in a three-game series over the weekend. The Gators outscored the Colonials, 51-8, in the three-game sweep over the weekend. Florida enters the series with a record of 9-7.

The final two games of the series between Florida and Texas A&M will be televised. Saturday’s game will be aired by COX Sports Television and Sunday’s game can be seen on Sun Sports and FOX Sports Net Southwest.

THIS WEEK’S GAMES WILL ALL BE CARRIED ON AM-1150 WTAM DUE TO THE MEN’S AND WOMEN’S BIG 12 BASKETBALL TOURNAMENTS. All other Texas A&M baseball games will be broadcast live on WTAW AM-1620. Dave South, The Voice of the Aggies, will call the action and will be assisted throughout the season by Tom Turbiville, Chuck Glenewinkel, Scott Clendenin, and Gabe Bock. The pre-game show will begin 15 minutes prior to the start of each game.

All-Time Series Record: A&M Leads, 3-1-0
Last Series: Last year, Texas A&M won two of three games against Florida in Gainesville. The Aggies and Gators played three low-scoring games. After A&M won the opener, 4-0, Florida even the series with a 4-1 victory. The Aggies won the rubber match, 1-0, thanks to a bases-loaded hit batter in the second.

Other: The only other meeting on the diamond between the two school was in 1992 at the Gainesville NCAA Regional. The Aggies edged the Gators, 6-5, in their third game of the tournament - an elimination game. A&M went on to lose the championship game to California.
