LAS VEGAS, NV -- Martin Piller carded a two-over-par 74 on Saturday and shares the lead after two rounds of the Southern Highlands Collegiate Championship at Southern Highlands Golf Course.
With a three-under 67-74=141 total, Piller is in a four-way tie for first
going into Sunday's final round.
The 10th-ranked Aggies are tied for fourth-place in the team standings with a 293-299=592 total, eight strokes behind No. 6 Georgia (584). No. 13 UCLA is in second (587), followed by No. 3 Florida (591), A&M and Arizona (592), No. 7 Clemson (593), No. 9 UNLV (593), No. 17 Georgia Tech (593), Minnesota (595), No. 4 Oklahoma State (596), No. 19 Wake Forest (597), No. 18 Arizona State (601), Washington (604), Kentucky (605) and No. 20 Texas (610).
A&M's Bronson Burgoon is tied for 13th at 75-71=146. Andrea Pavan is tied for 41st (78-74=152), while Chris Massoletti (76-80=156) and Trey Todd (75-81=156) are tied for 66th.
"We fought hard but we didn't play all that well," A&M Coach J.T. Higgins said. "We played smart golf from tee to green but our short game really cost us. The good thing is that we still have a chance to win going into the last round, which is amazing considering how many shots we threw away the last couple of days."
