Aggies Open Big 12 Play Against Kansas At Olsen Field

By  |

COLLEGE STATION -- After starting the season unranked, the No. 8 Texas A&M baseball team will begin the Big 12 portion of its schedule this week when it hosts the Kansas Jayhawks in a three-game series at Olsen Field. The three games will also mark the end of the Aggies’ 19-game homestand.

The Aggies continued to climb in the national rankings after a three-game sweep of Florida last weekend to improve to 18-2 overall. It is the best start for A&M since the 2004 team started the year 20-2.

Kansas, the defending Big 12 Tournament Champion, enters the series with a record of 12-8 after a sound win over Penn State on Tuesday, 18-5. Last weekend, Kansas shouldered three close losses to SEC power Arkansas in Fayetteville. After dropping the opener, 8-7, the Jayhawks lost the last two games, 4-0 and 5-2.

Last year, Kansas Swept the Aggies in a three game series in Lawrence. It was the last series of the regular season. A&M owns the all-time series advantage 35-13.
