Louisville Standing In Aggies Way To "Sweet 16"

LEXINGTON, KY -- The Texas A&M men's basketball team can punch their ticket to the "Sweet 16" with a win over Louisville in round 2 of the South Regional tournament at 2:40PM on Saturday.

The Aggies will not only have to battle the 6th seeded Cardinals, but also a pro-Louisville crowd at Rupp Arena which is just 78 miles from the Cardinals campus.

This will be the 3rd meeting between the Aggies and Cardinals. The teams first met in the championship game of the 1975 Louisville-Holiday Classic in Louisville, Kentucky, when the 11th ranked Cardinals posted a 102-88 win.

The teams last meeting was in the 1980 NCAA Midwest Regional Finals in Houston, with the 2nd ranked Cardinals pulling out a 66-55 overtime win en-route to capturing the national championship.

A win will not only send the Aggies to the "Sweet 16" for the 2nd time in school history, but will also break a school record for wins in a season at 27, as well as be Billy Gillispie's 100th career win.
