HUNTSVILLE -- Designated player Mandy Collier hit a grand slam home run in an eight-run third inning and catched Casey Everitt added a two-run homer in the fifth inning as Sam Houston State run ruled Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 10-2 in five innings to sweep a three-game Southland Conference softball series at the Bearkat Softball Complex Sunday.

Sam Houston State (14-12, SLC 5-1) totaled 11 hits in 25 at bats for the
victory. Tanya Hooser, Everitt, and Sarah Parich led the Kats in hitting
each with two.

Brandi Crnkovic (5-5) was the winning pitcher, striking out three and giving up onlye two hits and three walks.

During the three-game series, which included 12-6 and 6-3 victories
Saturday, the Bearkats hit .407 with 35 hits including four doubles and
seven home runs. Everitt hit .500 for the series, going 6-for-12 with four
home runs and 10 RBIs in the three contests.

Other home run hitters included Hooser, Mandy Collier, and Janaye
Richardson, each with one. Parich went 5-for-6 during the series (.833), Hooser 5-for-10 (.500), and Stephanie Mosley 4-for-9 (.444).

Jennifer Cummings (1-10) was the loser for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (4-23, SLC 1-10). Other Bearkats with RBIs included Amy Brown, Janaye Richardson, and Sarah Parich.
