Aggies Finish Sixth In Georgia Tournament

STATESBORO, GA -- Freshman John Hurley fired a one-under-par 71 on Sunday to lead No. 12-ranked Texas A&M to a sixth-place finish at the Schenkel EZ-GO Invitational at Forest Heights Country Club.

No. 5 Georgia captured the title by six strokes with a 10-under total of
854. No. 2 Alabama was second at 860, followed by No. 25 Auburn (868), South Carolina (874), No. 7 Florida (881), A&M (298-293-295=886), Georgia Southern (887), Augusta State (888), New Mexico (889), No. 13 Tennessee (890), Arizona (891), No. 15 North Carolina (896), LSU (897), Michigan State (898), Ohio State (903), Kentucky (907), No. 19 Minnesota (910) and North Carolina State (911).

Georgia's Chris Kirk took individual honors with a six-under 70-68-72=210 total. A&M's Bronson Burgoon was six strokes back at even-par 72-72-72=216, tying for seventh.

A&M's Martin Piller (70-70-74-79=223) tied for 34th and Robert Gates
(80-72-73=225) tied for 41st, while Hurley (82-78-71=231) and Trey Todd (76-75-80=231) tied for 73rd.

The Aggies return to action at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate March
26-27 in Austin.
