LOS ANGELES, CA -- The Texas A&M women's basketball team was unable to overcome a tough night shooting and 15 turnovers as they are eliminated from the NCAA basketball tournament by George Washington tonight at the Galen Center 57-49.
The Aggies shot just 33 percent from the field against the Colonials and turned the ball over 15 times which is a bad combination against a good team.
G-W had 3 players score in double figures with Kimberly Beck leading the way with 18 points.
Takia Starks came off the bench and led A&M with 16 points. The only other Aggie to score in double figures was Danielle Gant who added 11.
Texas A&M led by as many as 8 in the 1st half, but trailed at the break by 2, 23-21.
The loss ends the Texas A&M season at 24 and 7 while Joe McKeown and the Colonials improve to 27 and 3 and advance to the "Sweet 16" in Dallas to face Tuesday's winner between Notre Dame and North Carolina.
