DES MOINES, IA -- Iowa basketball coach Steve Alford has told his players he's leaving to become the head basketball coach at New Mexico. Senior guard Mike Henderson confirmed that Alford is going to New Mexico after the team meeting.
Alford has a 152-and-106 record in eight seasons with the
Hawkeyes. He guided the team to three N-C-A-A tournament
appearances and two Big Ten tournament titles.
