HOUSTON -- The Houston Texans today introduced restricted free agent Matt Schaub as their starting quarterback.

His agent says Schaub has a six-year deal worth 48 million
dollars.

General manager Rick Smith says the Texans are trying to trade
David Carr, who's been the starting quarterback since the
franchise's inception.

Houston has never had a winning record, finishing 6-and-10 last
year.

The Texans acquired Schaub in a trade with Atlanta.

Schaub, who turns 26 in June, has backed up Michael Vick in
Atlanta for three seasons.

Schaub says he was sold on the Texans as he played golf Monday
with coach Gary Kubiak.

Schaub says the coach said he was going to do what it takes to
be successful -- as an offensive team.
