COLLEGE STATION -- Many of the best female soccer players in the world will be in College Station from March 23-29 as the United States U-20 Women's' National Team will be running a competitive training camp at the Aggie Soccer Stadium on the campus of Texas A&M University.
The USA is preparing for this summer's Pan Am Games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, where they will be one of the favorites to win the gold medal. This week's camp in Aggieland will feature a talented roster of players from all across the U.S. born in 1988 and 1989. Two of the 22 players on the American roster have direct ties to the Big 12 champions from Texas A&M. Freshman goalkeeper Kristin Arnold and Aggie signee Whitney Hooper will be with the Americans as they play three games at the Aggie Soccer Stadium during the six-day training camp.
On Saturday March 24th at 6 p.m. Team USA will play the Mountain West Conference runners-up Brigham Young University. On Sunday March 25th at 4 p.m. the Americans will play Conference USA Champions from Southern Methodist University. The U-20 National Team will conclude their camp with a match against the Aggies on Wednesday March 28th at 6 p.m.
The Americans are coached by Jillian Ellis, the head coach at UCLA. She will be assisted by Nikki Izzo-Brown, the head coach at the University of West Virginia, and by Texas A&M head coach G Guerrieri.
Admission will be free to the public for the games on Saturday and Sunday.
