Bearkats Run Win Streak To Five

HUNTSVILLE -- First baseman Karl Krailo went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and left fielder Nick Zaleski added a two-run home run to lead Sam Houston State to a 17-6 run rule victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the second contest of a three-game Southland Conference baseball series Saturday afternoon at Don Sanders Stadium.

Sam Houston State (18-8, SLC 4-1) also won game one Friday to give the Bearkats their second SLC series victory in two weeks.

The Bearkats totaled 21 hits including doubles by Clint Mann, Bobby Verbick, Krailo, Austin Boggs, Todd Sebek, and Heath Pugh and a triple by Keith Stein.

The game was also highlighted by a triple play by the Islanders as, with
runners on first and second, Mann lined out to first baseman Jason Graham who threw to shortstop Bryan Gerondale for the out at second and back to Graham for the out at first.

Jacob Howard (5-2) gave up four runs in the second but got the victory going six innings with eight hits and three strilke outs. Stephen Price and Luke Prihoda combined for one inning of relief.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (14-13, SLC 1-4) totaled nine hits. Omar Gutierrez was the losing pitcher.
