Bearkats Sweep Panthers In Softball

HUNTSVILLE -- Casey Everitt went 3-for-3 including a solo home run and a three-run double in the first game and Kendra Spivey hit a double and a triple for four RBIs in the second as Sam Houston State swept a
non-conference softball doubleheader from Prairie View by identical 10-0 scores.

The victories Thursday at Bearkat Softball Complex upped Sam Houston State's record to 16-17. Prairie View dropped to 2-17.

In the first game, the Bearkats totaled 10 runs on 11 hits and two Prairie
View errors. Janaye Richardson went 2-for-2 with an RBI. Amy Brown hit a three-run double as well.

Brandi Crnokovic (6-7) was the game winner, giving up only three hits and striking out five Panther batters.

In the nightcap, Sam Houston produced 10 runs on 10 hits and one Panther error. Stephanie Mosley and Megan Beard each added a pair of RBIs for the Kats.

Morgan Mikulin (9-9) was the winning pitcher with a five-inning complete game, allowing the Panthers only one hit, walking none, and striiking out

Sam Houston State will play host to Southeastern Louisiana Saturday and Sunday in a Southland Conference doubleheader at Bearkat Softball Complex.

The series begins Saturday at 2 p.m.
