COLLEGE STATION -- The Texas A&M women’s basketball team, reigning Big 12 Conference champions, will be honored at the team’s annual celebration banquet to be held on Tuesday, April 17 at 6 p.m. at The Zone Club at Kyle Field.
The event is open to the public and cost is $20 per person. Reservations can be made by calling the Texas A&M women’s basketball office at (979) 862-3218 or by e-mailing Suzanne Shanks at firstname.lastname@example.org. Tickets should be reserved by April 13. Groups of six to eight who would like to reserve a table can do so by calling the women’s basketball office.
During the 2006-07 season, the nationally-ranked Aggies turned in back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time in school history earning a program-best No. 4 seed in the Dallas Regional. A&M posted the second-most victories and fewest losses in program history with a 25-7 overall record. The Aggies defeated rival Texas, 67-60, in the regular season finale to capture its first Big 12 Conference crown with a program-best 13-3 mark in league play. A&M put together its seventh all-time 20-win season and first back-to-back 10-win seasons in Big 12 play. The Aggies were ranked in both national polls a school-record 18 consecutive weeks including a program-best No. 10 national ranking on Nov. 28, 2006. A&M also recorded its first-ever undefeated season at home in the 33-year history of the program with a 16-0 record at Reed Arena.
Big 12 Conference Coach of the Year and Naismith Coach of the Year Finalist Gary Blair will recap the season, a season highlight video produced by 12th Man Productions will be shown and graduating seniors Jennifer Wilks (Frankston, Texas) and Lenka Zimova (Partizanske, Slovakia) will be honored during the ceremony along with other award winners.
Parking for the team banquet will be available in both the Koldus or West Campus Garage. Dress is business casual.
