“I look forward to getting back on the field this weekend,” A&M head coach Jo Evans commented. “We had a great practice on Thursday and our team is looking forward to the challenge of playing Oklahoma on its home field.”

The Sooners enter the weekend with an overall record of 37-3 and 3-1 in Big 12 play. Last week Oklahoma recorded a sweep of Texas Tech 7-0 and 7-3 before splitting games with No. 10 Texas 7-0 and 4-5. OU defeated Central Arkansas 7-3 to pick up the win in a mid-week match-up on Wednesday.

Texas A&M holds a season record of 28-4 and are 2-1 in conference. The Aggies shut down Iowa State last weekend, 4-1 and 8-0 before heading to Austin on Wednesday for the first round of the Lone Star Showdown. Despite falling 5-0 to the 9th-ranked Longhorns, the Aggies did have a couple bright spots. Senior Sharonda McDonald broke the Texas A&M hitting streak record (18 games) with a single in the sixth inning and junior Megan Gibson earned her 99th walk which moves her ahead of All-American catcher Selena Collins for most career walks.

Oklahoma senior third baseman Norrelle Dickson was named USA Softball Co-National Player of the Week for her play March 18-25. Sharing in the honor was Virginia Tech pitcher Angela Tincher. Dickson broke the career hits record on Sunday against No. 10 Texas going 5-for-5 against the Longhorns. She grabbed hold of the lead with 297 hits in her career and passed former OU player Kristin Vesely’s mark of 293. The senior also set the career record in runs scored during the Sooners win over Texas Tech. She has now amassed 211 runs scored, securing the top spot over former Sooner Christy Ring.

The Sooners hold the all-time series lead at 30-14. Texas A&M took two of three from Oklahoma in regular season action (7-6, 0-4, 5-1). OU evened up the series defeating the Aggies, 13-6 at the Big 12 Tournament in Oklahoma City, Okla.
