FRISCO -- After helping Sam Houston State sweep Southeastern Louisiana in a three-game series and take a doubleheader from Prairie View A&M, freshman infielder Lauren Burns becomes the second Bearkat in three weeks to win Southland Conference softball Hitter of the Week honors, earning the honor for the first time.
Burns hit .529 (9-17), leading Sam Houston State to a 5-2 week. The College Station / A&M Consolidated product had five RBI, two doubles, a home run, scored three runs and slugged .824.
In game two against SLU, she had two hits, including a home run, finishing with three RBI . She also had three hits in the team's doubleheader against Houston, and had two hits in game one against the Lions.
