COLLEGE STATION -- The 4th-ranked Texas A&M softball team continues Big 12 action on Friday with the first game of a two-game series against the Nebraska Cornhuskers. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. at the Aggie Softball Complex.

“We had a tough loss against Baylor on Wednesday,” A&M head coach Jo Evans said. “We’re ready to get back on the field and face another quality conference opponent in Nebraska. They are a very well coached and talented team. It should prove to be another great Big 12 match up for us.”
The Aggies (29-6, 3-3 in Big 12) dropped a 3-1 decision to the 11th ranked Lady Bears in extra innings on Wednesday night. Despite the loss, Sharonda McDonald was 2-for-3 in the game with a walk and a run scored, extending her hitting streak to 21 games and tying Jennifer McFalls for the A&M all-time lead in runs scored (168), she has 33 on the season. McDonald is now batting .344. The speedster from Houston, Texas is also 27-for-28 in stolen bases.
Nebraska comes to Aggieland with a 27-11 season record and a seven-game winning streak. The Huskers are 3-2 in league play, most recently knocking off Kansas on Wednesday, 3-0.
Meghan Mullin is batting .336 for Nebraska. The sophomore outfielder is 10-of-13 in stolen bases and has driven in eight runs on the season. Ashley DeBuhr, the Huskers senior pitcher, has worked 126 2/3 innings, in the circle, striking out 172 batters and holding opposing hitters to a .188 batting average.
A&M lost its only game against Nebraska last season, 3-2, in Lincoln. The second game of the series was cancelled due to rain. The Aggies hold the all-time series advantage 25-21 over the Huskers.
Friday is Youth League Night at the Aggie Softball Complex. Any child that wears their youth team jersey gets in for FREE. There will also be a free youth clinic following the conclusion of the game.
