Wells Inactive For Rest Of Season, Future With Rockets Uncertain

HOUSTON -- Houston Rockets guard Bonzi Wells will miss the rest of the season after mysteriously leaving the team.

Wells was fined and placed on the inactive list after failing to
show for Monday's game in Seattle.

Rockets spokesman Bob Schranz today said the player won't be
activated this season.

Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy says he has nothing but positives
to say about Wells -- but in this one incident, the player should
have called the coach.

Van Gundy says other than that, Wells handled himself very well.
Agent Bill Duffy didn't immediately comment.

Wells in October signed a two-year, four-point-four million
dollar contract -- but his problems began almost immediately.

Wells missed most of training camp with various injuries and was
inactive for 18 of Houston's first 20 games.
