BOSTON -- The Texas A&M men’s swimming and diving team will face Harvard and Boston University on a two-match road swing through New England this weekend.
The Aggies (0-0 overall) will face Harvard at 10 a.m. on Friday at the Crimson’s Blodgett Pool and then take on the Terriers at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at Boston University’s Competition Pool (both start times are Central Standard Time)
“We wanted to compete against some teams that we’re not familiar with, and get out of our comfort zone a little bit,” Aggie head swimming coach Jay Holmes said. “Both Harvard and Boston are solid teams, especially in the distance events, and I’m expecting a tough challenge. We’re excited to come up here and do some racing. We’ve been training for a while and it will be good to see where we are against some new competition.”
Both Harvard and Boston were runners-up in the Ivy League and the American East Conference last year, respectively, and both teams brought a pair of competitors to College Station in 2009 for the NCAA Championships. It will be Harvard’s first competion of the season, while BU is 3-1 with wins over Maine, Binghamton and Colgate.
The Aggies opened their 2009-10 schedule at the four-team Southwest Collegiate Plunge in Mansfield, Texas two weeks ago, and placed second to the Texas Longhorns while finishing ahead of Missouri and SMU.
