COLLEGE STATION -- The No. 13 Texas A&M baseball team will host the Houston Cougars Tuesday. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. at Olsen Field.
A&M won its first road Big 12 series since 2004 when it took two of three games from Missouri in Columbia. The Aggies improved to 30-8 overall and 8-6 in Big 12 play.
Texas A&M moved up a spot to No. 14 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Top 30 and stayed at No. 16 in Baseball America’s Top 25. Last week the Aggies were ranked as high No. 13 in the USA Today Coaches Poll, which will be released later today.
Houston enters the game with an overall record of 19-16. The Cougars dropped two games of a three-game set to nationally-ranked Rice last weekend to fall to 6-3 in Conference USA play.
The Aggies defeated the Cougars, 3-2, earlier this year at Minute Maid Park in Houston to improve their all-time advantage to 102-52-1.
Senior lefty Jason Meyer will start on the mound for Texas A&M. He is 4-0 with an ERA of 5.89. It will be Meyer’s ninth start and 13th appearance of the year. Meyer is currently second in school history behind Chris Russ (86) with 76 all-time appearances.
Houston is expected to counter with left-hander Donnie Joseph, who does not have a decision despite starting seven games and appearing in 13. His ERA is 6.25 and he has 17 strikeouts in 36 innings. Joseph started the game against A&M earlier this year, allowing one unearned run on five hits in five innings of work.
Tickets can be purchased at the Olsen Field Ticket Office 90 minutes prior to first pitch or by calling (979) 845-2311 or (888) 99-AGGIE.
The game will broadcast live on AM-1620 WTAW. Airtime will be at 6:15 p.m.
