COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - It's one and done for Greg Oden.
The 19-year-old seven-footer has decided he's leaving Ohio State
after his freshman campaign and entering the N-B-A draft. He
figures to be one of the top two picks, along with Texas freshman
Kevin Durant.
Freshman teammates Mike Conley Junior and Daequan Cook also say they will make themselves available for the June draft. But, unlike
Oden, they have opted not to hire an agent for now. That means they
still have the option of returning to school in the fall.
All three players were key figures this past season for the
Buckeyes, who went 35-and-4 to set a mark for victories and won the
Big Ten's regular-season and tournament titles. They advanced to
their first national championship game since 1962, and lost to
two-time champion Florida 84-to-75 earlier this month.
After getting a late start at Ohio State because of a wrist
injury, Oden lived up to his billing as a two-time national prep
player of the year. He led the Buckeyes in scoring and rebounding
and topping the Big Ten in shooting percentage.
