The red-hot Blinn Buccaneers upped their winning streak to 12 consecutive games as they routed visiting Galveston in both games of a doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Leroy Dreyer Field to sweep yet another conference series 3-0.

The Bucs jumped on the Whitecaps early in the first game and cruised to a 9-0 win.

They followed that up with a 10-2 victory in the nightcap.

The wins improve Blinn to 32-17 overall and 19-8 in conference play and kept the pressure on Alvin and San Jacinto for the outright conference championship.

Entering play on Saturday, the Bucs and Alvin were tied for second place, one game behind San Jacinto.

All three teams have qualified for the Region XIV Tournament to be held at Blinn May 12-16.

The Bucs sweep of Galveston prevented the Whitecaps from securing the fouth and final spot in the postseason tournament from the south zone.

Blinn returns to action when they travel to Alvin on Wednesday night for the start of an important conference series.
