ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - The Texas Rangers used a three-run
eighth inning to beat Oakland 4-to-3.
Hank Blalock put the Rangers ahead with a two-run single after
Sammy Sosa walked with the bases loaded. Blalock had three of the
Rangers' eight hits.
Shannon Stewart hit a two-run homer in the fifth to give the
Athletics a 3-to-1 lead. Mike Piazza snapped a 1-for-23 skid with
an R-B-I double in the fourth.
Scott Eyre improved to 1-and-0 with help from Akinori Otsuka's
second save. Otsuka entered the game with one out in the ninth after Eric Gagne had to leave the game with an apparent leg injury.
Justin Duchscherer slipped to 1-and-1.
