DALLAS (AP) - The Golden State Warriors have posted their first
playoff victory since 1992 and first playoff road win since 1991 in
stunning fashion. They knocked off the team with the best
regular-season record in the N-B-A.
Baron Davis scored 19 of his 33 points in the third quarter in a
97-to-85 win over the Mavericks in the opener of their Western
Conference series.
Dallas won 67 regular-season games. But this was Golden State's
sixth straight win over Dallas. The Warriors are 4-and-0 against
the Mavs since coach Don Nelson joined the bench this season.
Nelson says "it looks like it will be a long series."
Davis nearly had a triple-double with 14 rebounds and eight
assists. Stephen Jackson added 23 points for Golden State.
Game Two is Wednesday night in Dallas.
