HUNTSVILLE -- Sam Houston State designated hitter Karl Krailo has been named Southland Conference baseball "Hitter of the Week" after leading the Bearkats to a three-game series sweep of McNeese State.
The senior designated hitter from Klein Forest in Houston hit .538 for the
weekend, going 7 for 13 with three RBIs. Krailo hit two doubles and one home run in the series.
The Bearkats outscored McNeese State 27-13 in the series, winning 10-1, 10-7, and 7-5 on the road in Lake Charles.
Sam Houston State stands third in the Southland Conference West Division with an 11-7 league mark. The Bearkats play host to league-leading Texas-San Antonio in an important series Friday through Sunday.
The Bearkats are 24-17 for the season. Sam Houston State will play at Rice Tuesday night.
