Texas A&M standout Joseph Jones said Tuesday he has entered his name in the NBA Draft but could return for his senior season because he has not hired an agent.
The NBA Draft will be June 28 in New York City. Jones must withdraw by June 18 to maintain his collegiate eligibility.
"I just want to test the water and see how I can compete against the best players in the world," Jones said.
Jones was a consensus second-team All-Big 12 pick last season after
averaging 13.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game and leading the team in free throw shooting at 78.1 percent. He has started in 94 games in his career.
A&M is 70-21 in Jones¹ career and has posted three straight 20-win seasons and postseason appearances. The Aggies have gone to two straight NCAA Tournaments, advancing to the Sweet Sixteen last year.
"Joe and I have discussed entering his name in the draft many times,² A&M Coach Mark Turgeon said. ³We have done our homework and we want to do everything we can to help him pursue his dreams.²
