COLLEGE STATION -- Texas A&M sophomore Bronson Burgoon has been selected to the 12-member American team for the 2007 Fuji Xerox USA vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championship set for July 11-13 at Tijeras Creek Golf Club in Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.
The team - which consists of eight mens and four womens collegiate players - will be coached by Wake Forest’s Jerry Haas and Arizona State’s Melissa Luellen.
Burgoon has finished out of the top 20 just once in 10 tournaments this season and tied for fourth at the Big 12 Championship on Tuesday. His 71.85 scoring average is challenging the school record of 71.9 set by Philip Parkin in 1984.
Joining Burgoon on the team are UCLA’s Kevin Chappell, Jacqui Concolina of Vanderbilt, Rochester’s Stephen Goodridge, Rob Grube of Stanford, Duke’s Jennie Lee, Chris McCartin of Wake Forest, Oklahoma City’s Daniel Mitchell, Jennifer Osborn of Arizona State, Sonoma State’s Jarin Todd, Alison Walshe of Arizona and Kansas’ Gary Woodland.
Team USA leads the all-time series, 24-7, and has won 11-straight competitions.
