NEW YORK -- The Arizona Cardinals hope they've helped their
running game by selecting left tackle Levi Brown of Penn State with
the fifth pick in today's N-F-L draft.
Brown was a Penn State co-captain last season, starting all
eleven of the games he played. He missed two games following
surgery on a torn meniscus but sat out just one game due to injury
Brown moved from defensive line to left tackle as a redshirt
freshman, starting all 12 games for the Nittany Lions. He remained
on the left side during his four years at Happy Valley and proved
to be an exceptional run-blocker. Brown is able to finish blocks
and drive defenders off the ball. He has a thick body and plays
with great balance at six-five and a-half and 323 pounds.
Brown was able to use his natural talent to anchor the Nittany
Lions' offensive line for four seasons. He will need to hone his
blocking technique and footwork to emerge as a solid lineman in the
N-F-L. Brown has shown the ability to learn and work hard, which
should allow him to step up his game.
