SAN ANTONIO - Casie Everitt, Stephanie Mosley, and Sarah Parich all hit home runs but Texas-San Antonio responded with three homers of their own to give the Roadrunners an 8-4 victory over the Bearkats in the finale of a three game Southland Conference softball series Sunday.
Sam Houston State (32-21, SLC 19-7) came into Sunday's contest with a series victory already in hand after sweeping a doubleheader Saturday. The Kats' 6-2 and 4-0 wins Saturday clinched a berth in the Southland Conference post-season tournament for Sam Houston State . The tournament will be hosted by SHSU Thursday through Saturday, May 10-12.
The Bearkats remain in second place in the Southland Conference despite Sunday's loss. Texas-San Antonio (25-27, SLC 17-10) remained in third place by virtue of the victory.
Rachel Rackley, Jessica Rogers, and Krista Sitka each hit a home run for the Roadrunners. Amanda Nokolenko (13-16) limited Sam Houston to five hits, striking out three Bearkats for the victory.
Everitt, Mosley, and Parich hit solo shots in the first, third, and sixth
innings. Rackley hit a three-run homer and Rogers was a two-run shot.
Brandi Crnkovic (15-10) was the loser for the Bearkats. Crnkovic allowed nine hits and walked four Roadrunners.
Sam Houston State will close out the regular season next Saturday and Sunday with a three-game series at Bearkat Softball Complex against the Northwestern State Demons.
