Former A&M Assistant Football Coach Passes Away

BRYAN -- Longtime Texas A&M assistant football coach Paul Register has passed away at the age of 77. Register underwent heart surgery in February and was making progress, but passed away early Wednesday morning due to complications from that surgery.

Coach Register was hired by Emory Bellard to be the Aggies defensive line coach in 1972. He's outstanding coaching ability also made him a valuable asset to the staffs of Tom Wilson, Jackie Sherrill and R.C. Slocum before retiring in 1991.

Visitation will take place on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the College Station Memorial Funeral Home with funeral services to follow on Saturday at 3 p.m.
