HUNTSVILLE -- Deltrice Daniels, a 6-0 forward from Clear Lake High School, has signed a letter of intent to attend Sam Houston State and play women's basketball for Coach Brenda Welch-Nichols.

Daniels averaged 13.6 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.5 blocks, and shot 52 percent from beyond the arc as a senior in 2006-07.

Daniels is a two-time first team All-District and Academic All-District
selection. She also was selected to the Academic All-State team. She earned honorable mention All-District as a freshman and was the first freshman starter on the varsity since 1983.

"I think Deltrice will bring alot of athleticism and enthusiasm to our
program next year," Welch-Nichols said. "She is an inside/outside player
that will bring versatility to our style of play."

Daniels is the third 2007 signing for the Bearkats. The first two were Ausha Hartley, a 5-5 point guard from Westside High School in Houston, and Jameisha Todd, a 6-0 post player from Columbus, GA.
