Lady Vikings Finish 7th At State; Zawieja Captures Individual Gold

SAN ANGELO -- The Viking girls gymnastics team competed in the High School State Gymnastics Championships in San Angelo last week May
3,4,5. The girls team placed 7th out of 12 teams.

Leading the team to a 7th place finish were Seniors Alyssa
Zawieja, Daniela Hart and Mary Reedy.

Senior Alyssa Zawieja was All-Around State Champion, beating
the 2 time defending State champion. She also claimed the state vaulting title and placed 3rd on Bars, 6th on Beam and 2nd on
Floor (just missing another state title by .025)

This is the first time in BHS gymnastics history that a Bryan girl has won a state title.

Fr. Katelyn Lowe was 11th on Vault just missing being a top 10
Finalist.

Alyssa was selected to represent TEAM Texas at the National High
School Championships in Dallas on May 18th. She will be the
lead All-Arounder for the team.
