Williams Ties For Third In Reining

OKLAHOMA CITY- Texas A&M freshman rider Maddi Williams (Valley View) finished in a three-way tie for third place at the Collegiate Reining Championship held in conjunction with the 2007 National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Derby at the Oklahoma State Fair Park on Saturday.

Williams equaled the highest finish of any female rider in the competition. University of Findlay riders Travis Womer and Trevor Dare finished 1-2 with scores of 219 and 216, respectively.

Williams earned an overall score of 214.5 riding ‘Lizzi Whiz’ owned by A. Beaty of Aubrey, Texas. She earned scores of 72.5, 72.5, and 69.5 from the three judges, making her one of only two riders (Travis Womer) in the competition to earn more than one score over a 72.

Williams’ score equaled that of Auburn’s Lindsey Jordan and Georgia’s Kate Locker to place her in the tie for third.
