ARLINGTON -- Gerald Laird and Sammy Sosa combined for eight R-B-Is as Texas ripped Minnesota 14-to-4.
Laird belted his first career grand slam in an eight-run fifth
that put the Rangers ahead 12-to-2. He finished with a career-high
five R-B-Is for the Rangers, who have scored ten or more runs in
back-to-back games for the first time since September of 2004.
Sosa had two doubles and three ribbies as part of the Rangers'
15-hit assault.
Frank Catalanotto hit a solo homer and scored three times after coming off the disabled list before the game. Nelson Cruz also homered for Texas.
Vicente Padilla improved to 2-and-6, allowing two runs and five
hits in five and two-thirds.
Carlos Silva was pounded for seven runs and nine hits in four
and a-third. He's 2-and-5.
