ARLINGTON -- Johan Santana struck out a season-high 13 over seven superb innings as the Minnesota Twins whipped the Rangers 7-to-1 at Texas.
Santana fell one short of matching his career high for
strikeouts while holding the Rangers to a run and four hits. He is
5-and-4 after ending his two-game losing streak.
Santana silenced a Rangers offense that had scored 28 runs in
its previous two games.
Justin Morneau homered twice and had five R-B-I's before Torii
Hunter added a two-run blast to cap the scoring in the eighth.
Morneau supplied a two-run shot in the fourth and a three-run blast
an inning later, giving him 13 homers this esason.
The Rangers wasted Sammy Sosa's 598th career home run.
Kameron Loe was reached for five runs and eight hits in six
innings to dip to 1-and-4.
