LONGVIEW -- The Bryan Lady Vikings won game 1 of their best of 3 series with Garland this evening against defending Class 5A state champion Garland 2 to nothing.

Katye Hamlin tossed a 3 hitter, striking out 4 and didn't allow a walk. The Owls Tomi Garrison who beat Bryan twice last year in the regional semifinals allowed 6 walks and those free passes caught up with Garrison in the 3rd inning as Bryan scored twice.

Game two of the best of three series is underway. If Bryan can pick up a win in the nightcap of the double header than they'll advance to the state tournament. If Bryan drops game 2 tonight then the two teams will play the decisive 3rd game of the series on Saturday with the time and location still to be determined.
