COLLEGE STATION, Texas- The 4th-seed Texas A&M softball team will face the 5th-seed Tennessee Lady Vols on Thursday at 6 p.m. (CDT) at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium, the NCAA has announced.
The game will be televised nationally by ESPN HD and will air locally on Sports Radio 1150 The Zone.
The Aggies are making their sixth trip to the WCWS, their first to the Oklahoma City site. A&M moves on to face Tennessee after taking a 2-1 series from the Florida Gators. The Aggies started the best-of-three series with Florida on Friday, winning 2-0. The Gators fought back to win the second game 3-2 with a walk-off homerun in the bottom of the seventh. A&M advanced after plating an early run and shutting out Florida 2-0 in Saturday’s second game.
Tennessee advanced to the WCWS for the third consecutive time this season after eliminating Hawaii in the Knoxville Super Regional. In each of their last two trips to Oklahoma City, the Lady Vols finished third nationally.
The winner of the Lady Vol/Aggie match-up will face the winner of the Arizona/Baylor game on Friday at 8 p.m. (CDT). The losing teams will meet on Saturday at 1 p.m. (CDT). Both games will be televised by ESPN HD.
The eight teams that punched their ticket to Oklahoma City are Arizona, Baylor, Texas A&M, Tennessee, DePaul, Washington, Arizona State and Northwestern.
