Rogers Tops Trinity

In a clash of Class 2A titans, top-ranked Rogers beat second-ranked Trinity in game one of the Region IV baseball championship series 6-to-1 Wednesday night at Blinn's Leroy Dreyer Field.

The Eagles lead the best-of-three set 1-0.

Rogers put up a run in the top of the first inning when Marshall Coots singled to right-center scoring Braxton Byers.

The Tigers evened the score in the bottom of the second when Jordan McKee's blast to left hit the wall plating Jared McKee.

Rogers reclaimed the advantage in the top of the third when pitcher Taylor Jungmann singled to left sending Kris Janke and Ricky Brenek home.

The Eagles tacked on three runs in the seventh.

Game two is Thursday night at seven at Blinn.
